Abilities: Peregrine is a highly skilled martial artist. He has trained in Hung Gar starting at a very young age. Seven Star Praying Mantis Boxing was added to his repertoire since he was 12. He has learned some meditation techniques from his father to offer some mental defense, but a skilled/strong telepath would still be able to get around those defenses.
He is looking to add other martial arts styles to bolster his own abilities. He is looking to follow in his father's footsteps to become one of the greatest martial artists on Earth. Though he has some chi manipulation and augmentation abilities, he needs more training to make them more powerful. It is currently a low-level energy ability that with focus can double physical attributes like hearing, durability, rate of healing, speed and reflexes.
Peregrine possesses the strength level of a man his age, size and weight who engages in intensive regular exercise. He can lift at least twice his bodyweight.
He can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English fluently. He has contacts in MI-6 and SHIELD due to his parents' affiliations.
Weaknesses and Flaws: He is hunted by Si-Fan. Also, despite his intensive physical training, Peregrine is just human. If a bullet hits him, it will still do damage to him. He also doesn't trust large organizations having picked up his father's distrust of them.
Personality: Cheng Kam-Bo is a cheerful, young crime fighter waging a one-man war on the crime and corruption that permeates society as he searches for his father. Despite his wisecracking and seemingly frivolous attitude, he actually has a strong honorable streak; that’s what’s driven him to put his abilities to good use as a crime fighter. Beyond that, he enjoys the thrill of battling criminals, a game that feeds both his addiction to action and his desire to do good. A gregarious showoff , he never spent much time around women until leaving Hong Kong in search of his father and now he can’t get enough of them.
Backstory: Born to the master of martial arts Shang-Chi and Agent of SHIELD Melinda Qiaolian May, Cheng Kam-Bo was raised in the relative safety of Hong Kong. His mother was absent frequently from his life while on SHIELD missions; Kam-Bo was raised and trained by his father. They were located in Hong Kong to avoid Kam-Bo's grandfather and his corrupt influence on the mainland government.
Cheng Kam-Bo picked the English name 'Peregrine' as a teenager. His childhood and early teen years training with his father and other masters with occasional punctuations of his mother visiting. Just before his 18th birthday, his father disappeared from their home. There were signs of a struggle. Despite Agent May's best efforts, Shang-Chi has not been found. With no sign of his father returning, Kam-Bo packed up his own meager belongings, sold a few of his father's things, and began his own search for his father.
He has traveled through Asia and Europe the past three years, searching for clues where his father went. Despite his focus on his personal mission, he found himself helping people against corrupt officials and law enforcement as well as against triads, tongs, and gangs. Now, he's landing in North America, low on cash, and lower on clues.
Plans: I have left some bits intentionally vague so they can be fleshed out during play. I have no plans for him to join a team; I'm thinking he might stick as a free agent in the Independents section. I will eventually look to have his grandfather and Si-Fan hunt him as a replacement for his father to prolong his grandfather's life. Also, I plan on an extended hunt for Shang-Chi after he gets acclimated to the superheroic world of New York. Side missions with MI-6 are possible as well.
